Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so a response can be prepared. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive technical details about the visit:
- Page-view times and the length of visits
- The pages opened during a session

- The referring website, when one exists

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Somerset County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Somerset County police and Sheriff custodians, New Jersey Courts, the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not used to create consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted to a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Somerset County offices, New Jersey court portals, state agencies, legal-help resources, and outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process submitted queries

- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data

Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such data is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ with a visitor's location and the law that applies. In New Jersey, the Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., governs access to state and local government records, while N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.6 and related SBI provisions limit dissemination of criminal-history information. Those government-record laws do not turn this private site into a public custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
